Middle and High School students are brilliant! They are creative, opinionated, and smart! Here is a place for you to share your best writing. We encourage you to send in your writing/essays from class or stories you might be writing just for fun. If your work is selected you will get an award/gift card and the writing will be published here on the website. We Write Here started over two years ago in Oakland, CA and it is now open to all locations.

Q: Do I have to use my real name on my work?
A: You will be submitting with a pen name you create. We would like to publish your grade as well. If selected, we will email you an official acceptance notice, with a link to your work on our site, which you can forward to family, friends, and teachers.
Q: Will I have a choice of reward/gift card?
A: Yes (options: Target, Amazon.com)
Q: Can I submit many writing pieces?
A: Sure! No limit. The more writing you send the greater the chance of getting a piece selected. Don't get discouraged if your first essay is not selected.
Q: What types of writing can I send?
A: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Essays, Short Stories, Poetry, Humor, Interviews, etc....
Q: Can students comment on my work?
A: No, no comments on any work.
Q: How will I be contacted if my work is selected?
A: We will contact you with a "congrats!" email and follow up with the award.
Q: Can I write about any topic?
A: Yes submit any writing you choose.
Q: If I am published can I add it to a college, internship, or other application?
A: YES!!! And you will have the link to your pen name/award.

Q: Can I submit my work in another language?
A: Yes! Although if possible, please use a translator tool, a friend, or teacher to come up with the best translation. We will publish in both languages (Spanish, etc... AND English). Dialogue within a story does not need translation.
